iOS 7 Rumored To Have Substantial User Interface Upgrade Following Our Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 Article - Last night, after we published a report on pod2g confirming the evad3rs will not devote their time to update Evasion to jailbreak 6.1.3, John Gruber from Daring Fireball revealed in a Branch chat that according to his sources, iOS 7 will bring major UI (user interface) enhancements.  In fact, iOS 7 is rumored to be such a substantial update that Apple is falling behind on their development schedule and the company is being force to reassign the software engineers who were previously in the process of creating the next version of OS X: 10.9.

iOS 7 Rumored To Have Substantial UI Upgrade

iOS 7 Jailbreak Evasi0n

We've seen this reallocation of company resources in the past when Apple delayed the release of OS X Leopard to concentrate on the original iPhone – Gruber believe the same could be happening with Mac OS 10.9 and iOS 7.

Gruber then went on to reaffirm that he's heard iOS 7 will bring a "significant system-wide UI overhaul" and that the visual change from iOS 6 to iOS 7 is so great that iOS engineers who are allowed to use devices with iOS 7 are required to have special privacy filters. The screen filters are presumably nearly identical to the ones available from various third-party manufactures, which effectively reduce the device's viewing angles and can be helpful in the prevention of others accidentally getting a glimpse of the new and improved iOS design.

Rene Ritchie from iMore followed up Gruber's comments by saying that he's heard Jonathan Ive's work pertaining to iOS 7 is "making many people really happy, but will also apparently make rich-texture-loving designers sad". As some of you may already know, Jonathan Ive, the Senior Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple, now shares the responsibilities of iOS and the operating system's development with Eddy Cue, Bob Mansfield and Craig Federighi as part of a corporate restructuring that was announced in October of 2012.

iOS 7 Untethered Jailbreak iPad

iMore's Rene Ritche also restated a few of his earlier predictions regarding next-generation iPad and iPhone models, stating that while he has previously heard there was an event for the iPad 5 planned in April, it was entirely contingent upon the device's completion, which could have been delayed due to development of iOS 7 being behind schedule. He then stated that he believes the iPhone 5S may be available or, at the very least, may be announced sometime within the time frame of July to August of this year.

As for possible additions to the iPhone, both MG Siegler from TechCrunch Matthew Panzarino from The Next Web mentioned that they've heard a lot of rumors surrounding a possible biometric fingerprint scanner for the iPhone 5S. The new addition will reportedly be used for payment and identification purposes and will be made possible with AuthenTech's biometric technology, which Apple now has complete control of since they purchased the company in a hasty transaction last July.

EVASION JAILBREAK: UNTETHERED EVASI0N JAILBREAK IOS 6.1.3 JAILBREAK IPHONE 4S, iPHONE 5, IPAD 4, iPAD MINI, iPOD

P0sixninja Discovers Yet Another 6.1.3 Jailbreak Exploit For Future Use With iOS 7 - Last night, following p0sixninja's previous announcement regarding his solo mission to develop a new Untethered jailbreak for future iOS 7 firmwares, the prominent and well-established hacker sent out a tweet to his followers that's nothing short of tantalizing. As most of our readers are already aware, the popular jailbreak utility known as Evasi0n was patched by Apple on March 19th with the release of iOS 6.1.3 – a minor update issued to correct a known lock screen bug and to improve the Maps app for Japanese users. Since Apple release iOS 6.1.3 to the public, the vast majority of questions we've received over the past few weeks are related to whether or not 6.1.3 can be jailbroken. While the short answer is yes, there is a jailbreak available for iOS 6.1.3, it only supports older iPod touch and iPhone models due to its inability to function on devices powered by Apple's A5 processor or newer. That's why another untethered utility is paramount to the future of jailbreaking.

The Next UnTethered Jailbreak Will Come After New iDevices And iOS 7

As per his typical short and concise style, p0sixninja informed his followers that he's discovered yet another exploit for a jailbreak he's been developing in secret over the past few months. However, it's crucial to realize that his tweet is in no way an indication of an upcoming public jailbreak.

In one of our more recent posts on Evaion Jailbreak, we revealed that neither pod2g of the evad3rs (the team behind evasi0n) nor p0sixninja plan to release a new jailbreak that supports iOS 6.1.3 any time in the foreseeable future. Apple's latest firmware simply isn't a substantial enough update for any Dev Team to create an entirely new jailbreak around it, only to have Apple patch said jailbreak with another minor iOS installment. The developers on the jailbreak scene would be better off to wait for new iDevices and iOS 7 to be released before issuing the next jailbreak; this method of waiting will ensure maximum jailbreak compatibility for both hardware and software.

Shortly after his initial tweet, p0sixninja sent another hopeful tweet to his followers regarding HITB, which stands for Hack In The Box: a popular convention and platform for discussing iOS vulnerabilities. This latest development certainly comes as welcome news for jailbreak enthusiasts everywhere.

If you have additional questions related to jailbreaking, we recommend reading our recent post on pod2g's announcement and our in-depth iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak Q&A informational article.

EVASION JAILBREAK: UNTETHERED EVASI0N JAILBREAK IOS 6.1.3 JAILBREAK IPHONE 4S, iPHONE 5, IPAD 4, iPAD MINI, iPOD

Evasion Jailbreak 6.1.3 Information And iOS Questions Answered – When Apple released iOS 6.1.3 on March 19th, it didn't just bring improvements and correct a bug that affected the iOS lock screen, the minor update also patched the Evasion Untethered jailbreak. With one small release, Apple managed to patch a number of the vulnerabilities that are exploited by evasi0n to achieve an Untethered iOS 6 jailbreak. Curiously, Apple had left said vulnerabilities untouched in their previous iOS 6.1.1 and 6.1.2 updates, both of which were released following evasion's big debut on February 4th. Since Apple issued iOS 6.1.3 to the public, the members of Evasion Jailbreak have received a countless number of  questions pertaining to iOS 6.1.3, whether or not the firmware can be jailbroken and if it's possible to downgrade from 6.1.3 to a lower firmware. In this article we'll answer all of our most commonly asked questions.

iOS Jailbreak 6.1.3 Information And Questions Answered

iOS Jailbreak 6.1.3

Before we begin, a lot of the information detailed in this post can be found on our iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak Q&A article  published last month. Moreover, the latest information pertaining to jailbreaking can be found in our Jailbreak 6.1.3 archive, which we highly recommend reviewing if you have additional questions. Also, if you prefer audible answers, we recommend watching iCrackUriDevice's video on the topic, embedded below.

First, let's start with our most frequently asked question, can iOS 6.1.3 be jailbroken? The answer to this question may be confusing to some, as it's actually multifaceted in nature. While the latest firmware can be jailbroken on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and the 4th generation iPod touch using a simple Redsn0w workaround, which is detailed in explicit detail in our in-depth tutorials, newer devices like the iPhone 5 or the iPad 4 cannot be jailbroken on Apple's iOS 6.1.3. As mentioned above, the vulnerabilities in iOS that are utilized by evasion were patched in 6.1.3. Unfortunately, that means that the vast majority of devices on 6.1.3, which encompasses the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad mini and the 5th generation iPod touch, cannot be jailbroken.

Next, is it possible to downgrade from 6.1.3? Simply put, no, it's not possible to downgrade from iOS 6.1.3 to an earlier firmware that's supported by evasi0n. While iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4G owners can downgrade if they've manually backed up their SHSH blobs on the firmware they wish to revert to when Apple was still signing said firmware, that's only a very select number of the millions of iDevice owners who will likely experience all of the frustrations associated with upgrading to a firmware that cannot be jailbroken.

Jailbreaking iOS 7

Is The Future Of Jailbreaking Secured With iOS 7′s Forthcoming Release?

Finally, to wrap up this informational article, we're going to address jailbreaking's place in the future as we move forward and become increasingly closer to iOS 7 and its release. Although there may not be a jailbreak for Apple's current public firmware, that doesn't mean jailbreaking is dead – in fact, that's furtherest thing from the truth.

What most individuals fail to realize is that countless hours of work and devotion go toward creating a new jailbreak utility. Numerous days and nights are spent researching and trying to discover new vulnerabilities in iOS that will allow for the injection of unsigned code and enable root access, which is essentially what jailbreaking is: the permission of root access. Once that's understood, the answer to the question of whether developers should burn through the exploits they've spent weeks or even months discovering becomes much more apparent.

Although both the evad3rs (the team of four incredibly intelligent hackers that brought evasion to the public) and p0sixninja (quondam leader of the Chronic Team team and an instrumental contributor to numerous jailbreak solutions) are in the process of developing new jailbreak utilities, both parties are waiting for the opportune moment to release their work. Recently, pod2g of the evad3rs confirmed that the team has absolutely no plans to develop a new jailbreak specifically for 6.1.3 and that they'll wait for "a major release" before publicizing another jailbreak. Similarly, p0sixninja has also confirmed that he'll wait until the said of "7.0.x or maybe even 7.1.x" before releasing his own utility.

If you still have further questions after reading this article and watching the above video, we encourage that you browse through our iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak archive and ask any remaining inquires in the comment section.

EVASION JAILBREAK: UNTETHERED EVASI0N JAILBREAK IOS 6.1.3 JAILBREAK IPHONE 4S, iPHONE 5, IPAD 4, iPAD MINI, iPOD

iOS 6.1.3 Jailbreak Untethered iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad Mini, 4 Evasion - iOS 6.1.3: the minor firmware update from Apple that patched the evad3rs Untethered Evasi0n jailbreak utility that supports all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models on iOS 6.0 through 6.1.2. Today, the writing staff at Evasion Jailbreak decided to write this brief iOS 6.1.3 and jailbreak overview article to review a variety of popular questions related to jailbreaking. A majority of the subject matter we'll highlight and detail today can also be found in our recent evasion jailbreak and iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak questions and answers articles, with one major difference. In this report, we're outlining each point in an incredibly simple and easy-to-undertsand format.

Jailbreak 6.1.3 iOS Untethered Evasion Jailbreak Details

6.1.3 Untethered Evasion Jailbreak

As mentioned above, when Apple released iOS 6.1.3 to the public, the company effectively patched the evasion UnTethered jailbreak. Consequently, if you own an iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini or a 5th generation iPod touch, you cannot jailbreak your iDevice on iOS 6.1.3. However, if you happen to have an older iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or a 4th generation iPod touch, you'll be able to jailbreak 6.1.3 using a simple Redsn0w workaround – we highly recommend following our in-depth iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak tutorial.

With that said, new iOS-based devices can still jailbreak, so long as they're running iOS 6.1.2 or earlier and are supported by evasi0n. As with jailbreaking 6.1.3, we advise that you follow the instructions outlined in our evasion 6.1.2 jailbreak guide.

Unfortunately, newer devices are not compatible with the previously mentioned 6.1.3 redsn0w jailbreak, as it employes a hardware exploit that was discovered by Geohot in 2010. The hardware vulnerability, commonly known as the limera1n exploit, only supports the devices that were available when it was discovered, all of which were powered by Apple's A4 processor or earlier. As a result of product evolution, a number of the devices that were previously supported, including the original iPad, have been phased out by Apple and no longer receive iOS updates.

Furthermore, due to the restore method Apple uses, it's impossible to downgrade from iOS 6.1.3 to a lower firmware, unless you own an iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or an iPod touch 4G. When attempting to downgrade an older device, it's paramount that you have your SHSH blobs manually backed up for the firmware you wish to downgrade to, as Saurik's automatic SHSH backup service hasn't functioned properly since evasion's release.

There's currently one individual, p0sixninja (quondam leader of the Chronic Dev Team), and a group of hackers known as the evad3rs who are both in the process of developing the next major public jailbreak for future firmwares. A number of our readers have questioned the developers' motives in waiting until iOS 7 is announced and released before issuing new jailbreak utilities, the answer is rather simple: compatibly. The hackers and iOS security experts, who spend weeks and even months trying to discover incredibly complex vulnerabilities that can be exploited and used in a jailbreak, find it best to wait until Apple releases new devices and versions of iOS before making a jailbreak available to insure maximum compatibility.

After reading our article, we recommend watching iCrackUriDevice's new jailbreak video summary, which is embedded above for your convenience.

EVASION JAILBREAK: UNTETHERED EVASI0N JAILBREAK IOS 6.1.3 JAILBREAK IPHONE 4S, iPHONE 5, IPAD 4, iPAD MINI, iPOD

Jailbreak 6.1.2 iOS 6.1 UnTethered on iPhone 5, 4S, iPad mini, 4, iPod touch 5G, all iDevices with Evasi0n - Shortly after Apple released iOS 6.1.2 to the public to correct minor bugs, the Evad3rs (the dev team behind the untethered evasion jailbreak) updated their Evasi0n utility to v1.4. Thankfully, because the Untethered exploits utilized by evasi0n were left un-patched, users can now jailbreak Apple's latest 6.1.2 firmware using Evasi0n version 1.4 or 1.5. The new jailbreaking tool also supports 6.1.2 and older versions of iOS alike, including 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.1 and 6.1.1. All iOS devices that can upgrade to iOS 6.1.2 can now be jailbroken, with the exception of the Apple TV 3, which, as of now, is unable to be successfully jailbroken due to a lack of exploitable jailbreak vulnerabilities.

Evasi0n UnTethered Jailbreak iOS 6.1.2

As mentioned above, the Evasi0n Jailbreak is compatible with and can successfully jailbreak the following iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models running 6.1.2, 6.1.1, 6.1, 6.0.2, 6.0.1 or iOS 6 (not 6.1.3).

  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 4S
  • iPhone 4
  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPad mini
  • iPod touch 5G
  • iPod touch 4G
  • iPad 4 with the A6X chipset

As a result of recent updates and month of tireless dedication, the Evad3rs Jailbreak Developer Team have effectively made jailbreaking easier than ever with their new Evasion 1.4 jailbreak tool. Evasi0n v1.4, like past versions of the utility, features an easy-to-understand GUI or graphical user interface, which equips even novice jailbreakers with a powerful, yet simple method for administering the code required to complete an untethered jailbreak for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models on 6.1.2. Fortunately, the instructions for jailbreaking using Evasi0n are virtually identical to our previous tutorials. If you've already jailbroken using our jailbreak iOS 6.1 tutorial, jailbreaking 6.1.2 should be a breeze.

Important Jailbreak Prerequisite:

Before proceeding, if you wish to, not only speed up the process, but also eliminate the possibility of encountering any errors, you should follow the simple 6.1.2 restore procedure listed below. Additionally, if you plan on updating to 6.1.2 from a previous firmware, or if you updated using Apple's over the air (OTA) update feature, you must complete the following before jailbreaking.

  • Initiate a complete iOS 6 backup of your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad via iTunes.
  • Restore to Apple's latest 6.1.2 firmware and continue – refrain from restoring your data until you've completed the evasi0n jailbreak.

Additionally, if your device has a lock screen passcode set, ensure that it's been disabled before following the instructions listed below.

How to Jailbreak iOS 6.1.2 UnTethered Using Evasi0n

Step 1: Download Evasi0n from our download page, which is linked below, to ensure that you have a completely authentic version of evasion.

Step 2: Once Evasi0n has been successfully downloaded, if you're on Windows, extract the contents using the same method you would for any regular zip file. Mac users needn't worry, as OS X  automatically preforms this step – we strongly advice that you place the files on your desk top for convenience and ease of use.

Step 3: To continue through the jailbreak process, connect your iDevice to a computer via an official 30-pin or Lightning Apple USB cable.

Step 4: Run Evasi0n and simply click the Jailbreak button to the far right of the utility, as pictured below, and wait for the process to complete. Remember, it's crucial to abstain from interacting with your device's buttons and/or removing the USB cable, as both will interfere with the jailbreak.

iOS 6.1.2 UnTethered Jailbreak Evasi0n 1.4

Step 5: When prompted by evasi0n, slide to unlock your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and tap the Jailbreak icon once and let the jailbreak completely finish before unplugging your device.

Step 6: After a series of reboots, your device should return to its familiar unlock screen and Cydia will be placed in a blank springboard space. Congratulations, you've successfully jailbroken untethered on iOS 6.1.2 and you'll be able to download and install your favorite packages, tweaks and themes from Cydia. Fortunately, if you don't know which Cydia tweaks to get, we've complied a list of 25 awesome Cydia packages we recommend.

Leaked Alleged iPhone 5S Parts Suggest Unusual Change

EVASION JAILBREAK: UNTETHERED EVASI0N JAILBREAK IOS 6.1.3 JAILBREAK IPHONE 4S, iPHONE 5, IPAD 4, iPAD MINI, iPOD

iPhone 5S Parts Leaked After Our Evasi0n Jailbreak 6.1.3 Informative Article – Today, following our recent iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak informational article, the staff at Evasion Jailbreak decided it would be best to expand our article horizon and report on only the best Apple news and rumors. In a recent posting, a Japanese parts vendor named iLab Factory publicized images of what are allegedly components for Apple's upcoming iPhone 5S. However, as pointed out by iLab Factory, if the newly leaked parts are authentic, it's possible they could belong to the iPhone 5S' rumored counterpart: a low-cost iPhone model.

Leaked iPhone 5S Parts Suggest Design Change – Evasion Jailbreak

Evasion Jailbreak Leaked iPhone 5S Parts

Oddly enough, the new set of photos highlights a previously unseen "Push switch" flex cable that features three buttons, which will presumably be found on the side of the devices. The new component is only remotely similar to the iPhone 5′s volume control flex cable, as the leaked part contains three buttons instead of two and a silent toggle switch.

The new and rather peculiar arrangement may suggest that Apple will phase out the mute toggle switch that iPhone owners have become so accustomed to. If authentic, the next iPhone may adopt an extra button, similar to the current volume buttons found on the iPhone 5, to control whether or not the device is in silent mode.

Additionally, iLab Factory highlights the vibration mechanism in the component pictured above, noting that it makes use of a new dual-head design. The reason and/or motives as to what may have prompted this change remain unclear, although it likely has something to due with improved performance levels.

Evasion iPhone 5S Camera Leaked

As one final note of interest, iLab Factory also posted an image of the purported next-generation iPhone's front camera flex cable, that features a near-identical layout to that of the same component used in the iPhone 5. However, the leaked part is, oddly enough, missing an integrated microphone and numerous sensors, all of which are present on the iPhone 5′s camera flex cable.

It's certainly possible that this drastic simplification of the component is meant to accommodate a significant internal component design change.

Apple's World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC), which will likely take place some time in June, is quickly approaching. In years past, prior to the iPhone 4S, Apple would use the event to unveil and promote the latest and greatest iPhone. However, since then, Apple released both the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5 in fall, which leads some to the conclusion that the company will do the same with year's iPhone.

Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 Untethered iPhone 5, iPad Details And Downgrade Information

EVASION JAILBREAK: UNTETHERED EVASI0N JAILBREAK IOS 6.1.3 JAILBREAK IPHONE 4S, iPHONE 5, IPAD 4, iPAD MINI, iPOD

UnTethered iOS Jailbreak 6.1.3 iPhone 5, iPad 4 Information – Following both Apple's release of iOS 6.1.3 and our in-depth jailbreak tutorial for the new firmware, a large number of avid Evasion Jailbreak readers have inquired as to the status of an UnTethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3, how the current Tethered and semi Untethered jailbreak functions and whether or not it's possible to downgrade from 6.1.3 to 6.1.2. While we'll answer all of the most commonly asked questions we receive in this Jailbreak 6.1.3 Q&A article, iCrackUriDevice (a popular iOS and jailbreak tutorial YouTuber) has recently published an in-depth video explaining much of what is detailed in this post. If you'd prefer a vocal explanation to the iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak questions previously mentioned, be sure to watch the video embedded below.

Is it possible to Jailbreak 6.1.3?

iOS Untethered Jailbreak 6.1.3 iPhone 5 iPad 4

Yes, it's possible to jailbreak an iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or a 4th generation iPod touch on iOS 6.1.3 using Redsn0w. Unfortunately, because Apple patched a number of the exploits utilized by the evasi0n jailbreak utility, it's not currently possible to jailbreak the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini or the 5the generation iPod touch on 6.1.3.

Redsn0w utilizes Geohot's limera1n exploit form 2010, which is a hardware based vulnerability that cannot be patched by Apple for the devices it supports simply by releasing a new firmware. That's why older devices are supported by the 6.1.3 jailbreak, while newer devices cannot make use of redsn0w to accomplish the same task. Furthermore, older iDevices jailbroken on 6.1.3 will be jailbroken by what's referred to as a Tethered jailbreak, meaning users will be required to reboot their device using redsn0w every time it powers off. However, that being said, it's possible to install a Semi Tethered or a Semi UnTethered jailbreak following the Tethered Redsn0w jailbreak.

Semi UnTethered or Semi Tethered vs. Untethered and Tethered

There are a few terms that are important to remember when it comes to jailbreaking. The most important are Tethered and Untethered. As detailed in the answer to the previous question, a Tethered jailbreak requires the user to reboot the device using a utility every time they wish to reboot it into its fully-functional jailbroken state. Alternatively, devices that are jailbroken by means of an Untethered jailbreak utility (like Evasi0n) can fully reboot without the assistance of a computer or a utility.

It gets tricky when the terms "Semi Tethered" and "Semi UnTethered" are thrown around, which are simply two different terms used for the same type of jailbreak. Once an individual jailbreaks his or her iPhone or iPod touch using the Tethered RedSn0w jailbreak, they can then install a package from Cydia that converts the Tethered jailbreak into a semi Untethered jailbreak. A semi Untethered jailbreak will then allow the device to at least reboot without the assistance of a computer, acting as a life line of sorts if preforming a Tethered reboot is improbable at any given time. To regain full functionality after rebooting a device that's jailbroken on 6.1.3 by means of a semi Untethered jailbreak, all that's required is a simple tethered boot with Redsn0w.

Downgrade from 6.1.3 to 6.1.2 for Evasi0n Jailbreak?

Once users understand the answer to the first question in this jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 Q&A article and realize that 6.1.3 patches the evasi0n Untethered jailbreak for all iDevices, preceding questions are often related to downgrading and whether or not it's possible to downgrade from 6.1.3. The short answer is regrettably no, if you own a newer device – the long answer is bittersweet. Yes, it's possible to downgrade from 6.1.3 to 6.1.2 in order to make use of the Evasion UnTethered jailbreak utility for 6.0 through 6.1.2 on older device with SHSH blobs saved.

An iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or iPod touch 4th generation can downgrade from 6.1.3 if the device's SHSH files or blobs are either backed up locally or through Saurik's server. Due to the restore method utilized for iDevices, iTunes is required to check against Apple's server to detect the latest firmware and then grab device-specific SHSH blobs to complete the restore process.

If a user has SHSH files saved for their older iDevice, it's possible to utilize the TinyUmbrella utility to trick iTunes into restoring to an older firmware that's no longer signed by Apple. Remember, newer devices like the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 5th gen, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2 or the iPad mini are incapable of downgrading from iOS 6.1.3 to 6.1.2.

Will there be an Untethered Jailbreak for 6.1.3?

Unfortunately, the answer is simply no, the evad3rs will not update evasion to include untethered jailbreak support for 6.1.3. Apple's latest firmware is nothing more than a minor update and the evad3rs won't waste valuable exploits without the release of a major update and newer iDevice models. However, the evad3rs plan to develop another Untethered jailbreak from scratch for future firmwares. With that said, the UnTethered Evasi0n Jailbreak still functions on all iOS devices running 6.0 through 6.1.2. iPad 5 Case Leak Following iOS 6.1.3 Untethered Jailbreak Details – Today, preceded by our earlier iOS jailbreak 6.1.3 informative article and the recent iPhone 5S component leak, new images of a purported iPad 5 accessory have surfaced from a case maker by the name of Tactus. The alleged 5th generation iPad accessory in question is a case designed by the company that features a clear plastic mockup of the Pad 5 to show how the device may look. Recent rumors suggest that the upcoming, next-generation iPad will adopt a design similar to that of its smaller and increasingly-popular counterpart: the iPad mini.

Apple's iPad 5 is predicted to not only sport a narrower side bezel to increase its ease of use, similar to the bezel found on the current iPad mini, but the device is also said to feature a mostly aluminum design with attractive beveled edges.

Other reports suggest that the next full-sized iPad refresh will bring an improved, thinner and lighter profile to the 9.7-inch iOS-based tablet.

In addition to the above images, Engadget has also publicized photos of a separate iPad 5 case leak from Hong Kong. Their collection shows a number of shots that compare the leaked case to one intended for the iPad 4, the difference is rather significant. Also, the images reveal that the iPad 5 may be equipped with similar dual stereo speakers as the ones built into the iPad mini.

Unfortunately, with the growing number of leaked alleged iPad 5 parts and cases that are already circulating through various suppliers, it's difficult to gauge the validity of these images and determine if they're based on genuine leaked specifications or simply on previous rumors.

Jailbreak 6.1.3 Semi UnTethered iOS on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch 4G

EVASION JAILBREAK: UNTETHERED EVASI0N JAILBREAK IOS 6.1.3 JAILBREAK IPHONE 4S, iPHONE 5, IPAD 4, iPAD MINI, iPOD

Jailbreak 6.1.3 iOS Semi UnTethered on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 4G with Redsn0w – Following Apple's release of iOS 6.1.3 today, a popular jailbreak tutorial YouTuber named iCrackUriDevice published an updated semi UnTethered jailbreak guide for the new firmware using a simple RedSn0w workaround. Unfortunately, because the Untethered exploits employed by Evasion are patched in iOS 6.1.3, this jailbreak remains exclusive to A4-powered devices and is Tethered by default, which we'll explain later. If you own a newer iDevice on a previous version of iOS 6, including 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.1, 6.1.1 and 6.1.2, we strongly advise following our evasi0n jailbreak tutorial, as it includes untethered support for all devices.

Jailbreak 6.1.3 Untethered Evasion

As mentioned above, the Redsn0w Jailbreak is compatible with, and can jailbreak, the following iPhone and iPod touch models running iOS 6.1.3.

  • iPhone 4 (both GSM and CMDA models)
  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPod touch 4th generation

While the following newer iDevices are incompatible with this 6.1.3 jailbreak, they are still able to be jailbroken on all previous versions of iOS 6, even 6.1.2, using evasion.

  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 4S
  • iPad mini
  • iPod touch 5th generation
  • iPad 4 powered by Apple's A6X chip and Retina display
  • iPad 3
  • iPad 2

Furthermore, even though it's possible to use redsn0w on 6.1.3, iPhone and iPod touch owners will only be able to jailbreak using what's referred to as a "Tethered Jailbreak". Consequently, devices jailbroken using this method will require Redsnow to boot into their fully jailbroken state every time they power off. However, it is possible to install what's known as a semi Tethered or a Semi UnTethered jailbreak on iOS 6.1.3 after completing this tutorial. This will allow the iPhone or iPod touch to reboot without the assistance of a computer with limited functionality. If you've previously jailbroken using a tethered version of redsn0w, jailbreaking 6.1.3 should be easy for you.

Now that you know the limitations of Redsn0w, to be immediately notified on any and all news pertaining to the status of the UnTethered evasion jailbreak for newer firmwares like 6.1.3, subscribe to our official iOS 6.1.3 UnTethered feed.

Important Jailbreak Prerequisite

Before continuing with this semi Untethered jailbreak tutorial, ensure that you have the following:

  • An older iDevice (remember, only the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and the iPod touch 4G are supported) running the latest iOS 6.1.3 firmware from Apple.
  • The RedSnow 0.9.15b3 jailbreak utility and your device's corresponding 6.0 firmware file.

Additionally, while mentioned above, it's worth reiterating that this is a Tethered jailbreak, which requires additional effort on your part and doesn't support newer iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models. If at all possible, we recommend staying on a lower iOS 6 firmware and jailbreaking with evasion – iOS 6.1.2 is ideal because it's the latest firmware supported by evasi0n.

How to Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 Semi UnTethered Using Redsn0w

Step 1: Download Redsn0w from our download section, which is linked below, to ensure that you have an authentic version of the tool.

Step 2: Once Redsnow has been successfully downloaded, if you're on Windows, right click the utility, set compatibility mode to Windows XP Service Pack 2 and grant the program administrative privileges. Mac users needn't worry about compatibility, as practically all versions of OS X  can use the utility immediately after downloading it.

Step 3: Run Redsn0w and click Extras, followed by Select IPSW. In the pop-up window, simply point Redsnow at the iOS 6.0 IPSW, not 6.1.3. After the firmware has been successfully identified, click the Back button to return to the main Redsn0w menu.

Step 4: Click the Jailbreak button, ensure that the option to, Install Cydia was checked by default and continue to the next screen. At this point, Redsn0w suggests turning your device off to enter DFU mode, although it's possible to bypass this stage of the jailbreak entirely by entering DFU mode ahead of time.

Step 5: To enter Device Firmware Update mode, simply connect your iPhone or iPod touch via a standard 30-pin USB cable, press and hold both the home and power buttons for a total of ten seconds. Once ten seconds has passed, release the power button and continue to hold the home button for an additional ten to fifteen seconds.

Step 6: If you've entered DFU mode correctly, Redsnow will automatically proceed. Simply wait for the process to complete and for your jailbroken device to reboot, after it has, you'll need to boot Tethered.

How to Jailbreak 6.1.3 iOS Untethered

As previously mentioned, you'll be required to boot tethered for Cydia to appear and every time you need to reboot your iPhone or iPod. To boot Tethered, simply open RedSn0w, click Extras, followed by Select IPSW, point the RedSn0w window at the iOS 6.0 IPSW and select the option to Just Boot.

When you arrive at the stage that requires your device to enter DFU mode, follow the procedure outlined in the fifth step of this tutorial.

Jailbreak Downloads

Congratulations, after only six simple and easy-to-follow steps, you've successfully jailbroken your iPhone or iPod touch on iOS 6.1.3. Also, if you wish to install the package that converts this tethered jailbreak into a semi Untethered jailbreak, be sure to checkout iCrackUriDevice's video, which is embedded above.

Best Cydia Tweaks 2013, Top 5 List For iOS 6.1.3 And 6.1.2

EVASION JAILBREAK: UNTETHERED EVASI0N JAILBREAK IOS 6.1.3 JAILBREAK IPHONE 4S, iPHONE 5, IPAD 4, iPAD MINI, iPOD

Top Cydia Tweaks 2013 New List for iOS 6.1.3 Jailbreak – In addition to the typical questions iOS 6 and 6.1.3 jailbreak enthusiasts ask us at Evasion Jailbreak 6.1.3 Tutorials, we also frequently receive inquires and  interest in what users can do once they jailbreak and which Cydia tweaks we recommend. If you're one of our frequent readers, or if you're new to Evasion Jailbreak, you've come to the right place. Today, iCrackUriDevice (a popular iOS and jailbreak tutorial YouTuber who helps manage Evasion) published a new video that highlights five of the best Cydia tweaks for iOS 6.0 through Apple's latest 6.1.3 firmware.

Top Cydia Tweaks For Evasion Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 And 6.1.2

Top Cydia Tweaks Jailbreak 6.1.3

Before we dive into this new list of top Cydia tweaks, it's crucial to understand that in order to download and successfully install said tweaks, your iDevice must be jailbroken. To jailbreak, we recommend following either our 6.1.3 Evasi0n jailbreak tutorial for all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models or our iOS 6.1.3 Semi Untethered jailbreak guide for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and the iPod touch 4G.

  1. AnyAppLock is a small, lightweight and basic tweak that adds otherwise unthought of functionality. With this Cydia tweak, users will be able to replace iOS' default lock screen camera access capability with any app of their choosing.
  2. BrowserChooser is another lightweight, but useful add-on that bypasses Safari as iOS' default browser and empowers users to select an installed browser of their choice from the App Store.
  3. GridLock 2.0 allows users to arrange their applications in any conceivable configuration, regardless of whether or not there are blank spaces on the device's springboard. This functional, yet surprisingly simple, iOS modification is available to purchase for $4.99 from Cydia's default BigBoss repository.
  4. LivePapers brings fully customizable live wallpapers to iPhone, iPod touch and even iPad models. While the app comes with one default live wallpaper, users have the ability to purchase extra wallpaper packs from Cydia to further enhance LivePapers' incredible experience.
  5. Aptdate is the final tweak in today's list, which is actually more of a minor, yet convenient, addition than anything. The free package automatically checks Cydia's default sources every five hours and sends users push notifications if it discovers any new updates for installed packages.

As one last reminder, we feel it's crucial to reiterate that the installation of the above Cydia tweaks relies on root access, which can only be achieved on a jailbroken device. If you own an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch that has yet to be jailbroken, we strongly advice reviewing the articles posted in both our iOS 6.1.2 and 6.1.3 jailbreak archives.
