iOS 7 Rumored To Have Substantial User Interface Upgrade Following Our Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 Article - Last night, after we published a report on pod2g confirming the evad3rs will not devote their time to update Evasion to jailbreak 6.1.3, John Gruber from Daring Fireball revealed in a Branch chat that according to his sources, iOS 7 will bring major UI (user interface) enhancements. In fact, iOS 7 is rumored to be such a substantial update that Apple is falling behind on their development schedule and the company is being force to reassign the software engineers who were previously in the process of creating the next version of OS X: 10.9.
iOS 7 Rumored To Have Substantial UI Upgrade
We've seen this reallocation of company resources in the past when Apple delayed the release of OS X Leopard to concentrate on the original iPhone – Gruber believe the same could be happening with Mac OS 10.9 and iOS 7.
Gruber then went on to reaffirm that he's heard iOS 7 will bring a "significant system-wide UI overhaul" and that the visual change from iOS 6 to iOS 7 is so great that iOS engineers who are allowed to use devices with iOS 7 are required to have special privacy filters. The screen filters are presumably nearly identical to the ones available from various third-party manufactures, which effectively reduce the device's viewing angles and can be helpful in the prevention of others accidentally getting a glimpse of the new and improved iOS design.
Rene Ritchie from iMore followed up Gruber's comments by saying that he's heard Jonathan Ive's work pertaining to iOS 7 is "making many people really happy, but will also apparently make rich-texture-loving designers sad". As some of you may already know, Jonathan Ive, the Senior Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple, now shares the responsibilities of iOS and the operating system's development with Eddy Cue, Bob Mansfield and Craig Federighi as part of a corporate restructuring that was announced in October of 2012.
iMore's Rene Ritche also restated a few of his earlier predictions regarding next-generation iPad and iPhone models, stating that while he has previously heard there was an event for the iPad 5 planned in April, it was entirely contingent upon the device's completion, which could have been delayed due to development of iOS 7 being behind schedule. He then stated that he believes the iPhone 5S may be available or, at the very least, may be announced sometime within the time frame of July to August of this year.
As for possible additions to the iPhone, both MG Siegler from TechCrunch Matthew Panzarino from The Next Web mentioned that they've heard a lot of rumors surrounding a possible biometric fingerprint scanner for the iPhone 5S. The new addition will reportedly be used for payment and identification purposes and will be made possible with AuthenTech's biometric technology, which Apple now has complete control of since they purchased the company in a hasty transaction last July.
